Austria is located in central Europe and has a population of 8.2 million people. The largest city in Austria is Vienna, which has a rich history and a wide array of palaces and museums to visit. Beyond the city Austria has the beautiful Alps and fresh mountain landscapes straight from a fairytale. The official language is German, although English is widely spoken.

Best time to travel

Austria is a great destination to visit any time of year, but keep in mind you may have to pack your skis if planning a winter visit. Between April and October are the warmer months, with crowds peaking in July though to August.
