Final tips from YourSurgeryAbroad

Although we think we've done an excellent job, this is only the beginning.

YourSurgeryAbroad: use us to help you in your search

Medical tourismThe YourSurgeryAbroad website is designed to make searching for a medical tourism provider as easy as possible. By allowing searches by both destinations and procedure, we are able to supply you with an up-to-date listing of relevant service providers. This is the first step in your travels as a medical tourist, and once you have the information from us you should always continue on with your own research.

Research, research, research!

Do what you need to put your mind at ease. Your chosen provider won't mind answering any of your questions, so don't feel embarrassed to ask. You should always write a list of things you are unsure about. Even if you have chosen a well-known company to organise your treatment, get a response that you are comfortable to all your questions. Healthcare is a competitive business; your surgeon will want to send home a happy client.

Speak to real people

Don't just rely on a clinic's shiny website. Search the web for Internet sites and forums, where you can make contact with people who have already experienced medical treatment overseas; this can put you in contact with thousands of people with the same initial concerns as you.

Get it in writing

Make sure you're clear on everything before you leave home. Get a detailed treatment plan emailed or sent through the post. It is often helpful to have a friend or family member read through you contract also, just as a fresh eye. Ask for any changes or additions in writing. Read the small print and be clear on aftercare and provision for complications. Make copies of everything, including all travel documents, and leave one set with a trusted friend or relative.
