India launches medical travel association

Tuesday, 14 July 2009

India has launched the Indian Medical Travel Association (IMTA) in an effort to bring together healthcare providers and medical tourism industry providers to promote India as a healthcare destination. "The fact is that prior to choosing a hospital, the international patients first decide on the country or the destination. Therefore, we all must join hands to aggressively promote India as a preferred global healthcare destination," said Pradeep Thukral, Executive Director of the IMTA. Only a few hospitals in India have been actively marketing to international patients, but the creation of the IMTA is expected to increase efforts by Indian healthcare providers to attract international patients to their world-renowned hospitals.
