Lebanon looking to boost cosmetic surgery tourism

Wednesday, 15 July 2009

Cosmetic surgery has long been popular in Lebanon and now the Lebanon tourism ministry is trying to take advantage of that and increase medical tourism to Lebanon. Image Concept, a Dubai based private firm under the authority of the Lebanon tourism ministry, has launched a cosmetic surgery tourism initiative aimed at facilitating trips of medical tourists to Lebanon. Tourism in Lebanon took a large hit during political turmoil and violence between 2005 and 2008, but after stabilisation of the area, Lebanon is looking to regain the tourism they lost during those four years. The tourism industry recovered with 1.3 million visitors last summer and hopes to reach 2 million visitors by the end of this year.
