Taiwan looking to China to attract more medical tourists

Officials in Taiwan are looking to the Greater China market in an effort to boost medical tourism in Taiwan. The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) was at the 2009 Hong Kong International Travel Expo, which ended June 14, to promote joining of medical tour groups to Taiwan from Hong Kong, Macau, and China. TAITRA was composed of representatives from hospitals, cosmetic surgery clinics, and hotels. They estimate the Asia market for medical tourism will be worth $4.4 billion annually by 2012.
