Venezuela is located in South America and has a population of 27.88 million people. The country is home to the longest stretch of Caribbean coast line, meaning it has amble supply of turquoise watered beaches. Venezuela also has wetlands, its own piece of the Amazon rainforest and flat-topped mountains. The local people are rich in culture, particularly in the nation's capital Caracas. Despite all its beauty, it is so far under visited by international travelers, which is ure to change as more and more people discover what it has to offer. Spanish is the offical language of Venezuela, with some people also speaking English, French, German and Portuguese.

Best time to travel

The dry season (September through to April) are considered the best time to travel to Venezuela. However, being located close to the equator means the country experiences warm weather all year round.

A tourist visa is not required to enter Venezuela by plane for residents of the USA, UK and most other countries; entry to the country is for up to 90 days. If arriving by air you will be provided with a Tourist Entry Card by your airline that must be completed. If arriving by sea or land you should apply for a tourist visa beforehand. A tourist visa is valid for 1 year and valid for multiple visits, but no more than 90 straight days is to be spent in the country at any one time.

Getting there

Caracas' Aeropuerto International Simon Bolivar is the main point of entry for travelers to Venezuela, although there are several other airports that service international flights.
